Collaborations between brands and designers just for the hell of it seem pointless. There have been ones that are interesting and make sense in terms of history, ones that are sort of bizarro and because of that kind of cool, and then ones that are just plain way too many Brand Y x Brand Z x Brand D = a pair of shoes that could have just been Brand C.
But A.P.C doing a collab with Carhartt, the American workwear brand that has a completely separate, not in the same family European streetwear line, could easily fall into any of those 3 categories. So until further notice, read about the French staple and the European street staple here and here.
